You Don’t Have to Have It
All Figured Out to Begin
Life transitions have a way of catching us off guard — even the ones we planned for. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, a relationship change, a loss, or that low hum of anxiety that just won’t quit, you may find yourself wondering why does this feel so hard? The answer isn’t that something is wrong with you. It’s that you’re human, and you’re carrying a lot.
That’s where I come in.
Meet Heather
Heather Rice Taylor, MA, LPC Associate
Hi, I’m Heather — a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and the founder of Mindful Balance Therapy. I believe that therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff, clinical, or intimidating. My space — whether we meet in person in Houston’s Heights neighborhood or connect virtually — is intentionally relaxed, judgment-free, and built around you.
I work with adults who are in the thick of change and with people whose anxiety has started running the show. My approach is collaborative, meaning we figure things out together. You bring your lived experience; I bring the tools, the training, and a genuine commitment to helping you find your footing.
Outside the therapy room, I’m a wife of over 30 years, a mom to two grown daughters, and a longtime business owner. I know firsthand the particular kind of stress that comes with running a business — the weight of constant decisions, the way work has a way of following you home, and the unique complications that arise when family and business lives intersect. These experiences don’t just make me relatable; they shape the way I show up for my clients every single day.
My work is rooted in the connection between mind and body. In addition to traditional counseling methods, I’m trained in somatic integration, mindfulness meditation, and grief-informed care — and as a certified RYT 200 yoga teacher, I understand deeply how our bodies hold what our minds sometimes can’t process alone. When it fits, I’ll gently weave these elements into our work. When it doesn’t, we stick to what serves you best.
Above all, I believe healing is possible — not as a destination, but as a practice. And I’m honored to walk that path with you.
